Our Story: Over 40 Years of Trusted Protection

Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems was founded in 1978 by Myron Mueller with a clear mission: to provide superior security services to Rancho Santa Fe and the surrounding communities. From the beginning, the focus was on more than just installing security systems—it was about delivering peace of mind through personalized service and reliable protection.
As the security industry evolved, so did Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems. Technology advanced, and new threats emerged, but the company remained committed to staying ahead of the curve. Over the years, new services were introduced to better serve customers, including local monitoring, a dedicated 24-hour service department, alarm response, long-range radio-frequency backup monitoring, and professional guard and patrol services.
In 1992, Myron’s daughter, Denise Mueller, who had been involved in the business for many years, took over leadership. She continued to uphold the same customer-first approach her father had built the company on, ensuring that Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems remained a trusted name in home and business protection.
By 1996, the company had grown significantly and made an important investment in its future by purchasing its own building in Encinitas. This allowed for a complete upgrade, including a state-of-the-art central monitoring station that strengthened service capabilities and response times. As demand for security services increased, the company made another major move in 1997, creating Rancho Santa Fe Protective Services—a separate division dedicated exclusively to patrol, guard, and alarm response services.
The company’s growth continued in 2000 with the acquisition of California Advanced Protective Services (CAPS), expanding its reach and making Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems one of the largest security providers in North San Diego County.
Today, Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems and Rancho Santa Fe Protective Services remain family-owned and operated, standing by the same principles they were founded on more than four decades ago. Rooted in Purpose

Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems began in 1978 out of a garage in Scripps Ranch, founded by Myron and Wally Mueller. Within a year, they launched their first central monitoring station inside the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department. By 1981, the company had moved into its own dedicated office space in Encinitas, and in 1985, they launched their own Armed Response division—laying the groundwork for trusted, full-spectrum protection services.

Legacy in Leadership, Growth in Purpose

In 1991, Myron's daughter, Denise Mueller, joined the business full-time. By 1996, she had taken over leadership, continuing the family’s legacy of customer-first service. That same year, the company purchased its own building in Encinitas. In 1997, Rancho Santa Fe Protective Services was spun off into its own dedicated corporation, focusing on alarm response, patrol, and guard services—cementing their commitment to specialized protection.

Expansion Through Service and Impact

Beyond structural growth, the late '90s marked a deepening of community and service impact. In 1997, RSF Security began its long-standing role as host and coordinator for the Encinitas Chamber’s Salute to Education. The following years introduced new service arms, including Custody Transport (1998), Private Investigations, and Executive Protection (1999). In 2000, the company expanded again through its acquisition of the CAPS client base, strengthening its regional presence.

Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems remained ahead of the curve into the early 2000s. In 2003, they introduced hybrid patrol vehicles—prioritizing innovation and sustainability without sacrificing reliability. The momentum continued in 2004 with the acquisition of ASN’s client base, bringing more families and businesses under their trusted umbrella of protection.

2003–2004

The Third Generation Joins In

In 2018 and 2019, Denise’s sons—Jonathan and Daniel Boever—joined the company full-time, continuing the family legacy into its third generation. With the Boever brothers bringing fresh energy and modern insight, the company balances its decades of experience with forward-looking leadership and an unwavering dedication to its founding mission.
